Although the two never crossed paths at the People’s Choice Awards at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre Wednesday night, it seems they were already on the road to friendship. New York (ANI): Actor Robert Pattinson and his girlfriend Kristen Stewart celebrated New Year’s at Ventnor, a seaside resort on an island off the coast of England and ended up drawing a huge crowd. However, the ‘Twilight’ couple had to escape before local fans could mob them.

According to reports, Pattinson, 23, and Stewart, 19, posed for photos with a young female fan outside a grocery store on New Year’s Eve and then retreated to their hideout on the Isle of Wight, 80 miles south of London. And when the pics hit a local blog, fans crowded the island in search of the alleged couple, reports People.

“All the young girls have been trying to find him. They have been out on a hunt,” the New York Daily News quoted store managerJez Harmer as saying. But the hunt ended in disappointment for the young fans, as the couple apparently vanished. “It’s literally a mystery,” said Harmer, referring to the celebrity couple’s whereabouts.

Check out the first teaser poster for Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning’s upcoming biopic, The Runaways.

The Runaways tells the story of the 1970s teenage rock band responsible for hits “Cherry Bomb,” “Queens of Noise” and “Born to Be Bad.”

The movie will also star Alia Shawkat, Scout Taylor-Compton and Stella Maeve as drummer Sandy West.

The flick is also set to premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival this February.

When Taylor Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the Twilight franchise, marks his debut appearance as host of tonight’s Saturday Night Live, there a safe bet there will be plenty of jokes about: 1. his age (he’s only 17), 2. his newly bulked up bod (as witnessed in the current box office bonanza, Twilight: New Moon and the November issue of GQ magazine image seen right) and 3. Kellan Lutzlooks like he’s in a great mood as he carries his luggage through the Burbank airport with friends on Thursday (December 10).The 24-year-old Twilight hottie recently told Zap2it that he’s thankful for his big break from the vampire saga.

“People work 20 years to get what we have,” Kellan said. “We really are so lucky. It’s like you get a head start and it’s all because of the fans. And it’s not just about money or getting offers, it’s that we can mold our careers.”
